Hale Academy has partnered with Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) and Creative Alliance Solutions sponsored by The Lindbergh Foundation of Seattle, Washington to participate in NASA’s Green Flight Challenge. Creative Alliance Solutions was founded and is headed by Erik Lindbergh, the grandson of the aviator Charles Lindbergh, with the sole purpose to create an environment of innovation and creative thinking for young people to be able to impact important issues facing the world today and in the future. Hale Academy was selected as one of six high schools in the world to be part of this exciting and innovative partnership. This challenge is sponsored by the CAFÉ Foundation. This school year, we will continue our work with Embry-Riddle, preparing for a trip to Santa Rosa, CA to film the Green Flight Challenge in late September. We will return to continue with the film editing for our final production to be brought to Seattle, WA for a film festival in late October or early November (date has not yet been announced). Teams of six participate in the competition, and presently our team has 2 openings. Students who have interests in either aeronautics or film making can really gain a lot from participating in this program. Upon completion of this year’s challenge, we will be developing a proposal with Embry Riddle for a new or continuing project, so plan for our aeronautics program to be long-term.
